How It Works

  1. Choose Your Image
    Select a photo, illustration, or digital design you'd like to transfer. It could be anything from a family portrait to a vintage postcard or abstract art.  You could also select a high contrast image from a fashion magazine like Vogue, In-Style or Elle.

  1. Gelli Arts Plate, Roller, Acrylic Paints Needed
    Apply a thin layer of black acrylic paint on the surface of your Gelli Arts printing plate.  While the paint is still wet, lay your image on top of the wet paint.  Press lightly on top of your image and wait about 10 - 15 seconds.  

 

  1. Remove Your Image - Let the Paint Dry on the Plate.
    Remove the image from the plate - you can peek at a corner to make sure the image is underneath.  Let the image dry completely.

 

  1. Add a Thin Layer of White Acrylic Paint.  After allowing the image to dry on your plate, go over the image with a thin layer of acrylic paint - you can use white or a lighter color.  You should be able to see the transferred image through the thin layer of white paint. While the paint is still wet, place a piece of paper or fabric on top of the wet paint and press hard.  You can let the paper or fabric sit for a few minutes to let the paint dry a bit, and then remove your paper slowly.  Your image will be transferred to your paper or fabric!
  2. Add Your Finishing Touches.  Frame, mount, or incorporate your transfer into your larger art project. You can add embellishments, paint, or layers for a completely personalized result.
